The Big Fresno Fair’s CEO, John C. Alkire and in-house talented welder, Hank Alaniz won Best of Show at the March Art Hop in downtown Fresno for an incredible metal sculpture of a bald eagle! This unique sculpture is made up completely of recycled metal parts from Turner’s Auto Wrecking and stands at 9 feet tall, has 2,100 individual metal feathers on its body and a wingspan of 8 feet wide!
This award-winning sculpture will be dedicated to the late Marvin Meyers and will be put on permanent display in the Meyer’s Water & Wildlife Tree in the Table Mountain Rancheria Park.
“Marvin was a beloved veteran and eagle scout who cared for his community,” said CEO, John C. Alkire. “He was a huge donor to Fresno State and his name will live on with his sponsorship with Meyer’s Water and Wildlife Banks”
A special dedication of the sculpture will take place prior to the 2020 Big Fresno Fair.
