Meet today’s featured exhibitor: Chloe Everson of Fresno-Central FFA!

 

Chloe Everson got involved the FFA program because of her deep passion for animals and her desire to make a difference in the livestock industry. Due to animals not being able to advocate for themselves, she wants to be the voice for their well-being, whether that be their physical or emotional needs. Besides this, the FFA has provided Chloe a chance to develop leadership, responsibility, and effective communication skills that many others do not get the chance to learn. The FFA is a remarkably strong program, due to this Chloe feels she has a second group to call her family and people she can always rely on. This program is significantly important to her from her chapters endless support and encouragement to accomplish everything no matter what.

 

This year Chloe has a project of a market lamb; this will be her second year raising and showing a lamb at the Big Fresno Fair. Last year she placed 2nd overall in showmanship, and 2nd in her market class. This year she strives to do even better, and show her dedication for this project. Some responsibilities that follow along with raising a market lamb include fulfilling basic animal needs, such as feeding twice a day, maintaining a clean-living space, providing fresh water, and monitoring lambs weight as well as exercise time. On the other hand, you have to work with your animal. Halter breaking, walking, bracing, and showmanship practice all fall under this category.

The countdown to the Jr. Livestock Auction continues as we shine a spotlight on the students behind the projects 🐑

 

Meet Natalie Macias, a Reedley FFA student and junior at Reedley High School:

 

“The reason why I joined FFA is to get hands-on experience with work with animals and get the confidence to get more out there. FFA is a big part of my life and my future. I feel like FFA will have a strong impact on what I do towards working on my goals. As I’m in FFA right now I got to meet a whole bunch of amazing people that are a part of my life now I am grateful for each and one of them that I got to meet this year and throughout my FFA year. So, this year will be my second year, showing a markets lamb. Unfortunately, my other two projects did not make it into fair but that’s ok because this year I am coming back strong then very.

 

This year I will be showing a market lamb. The name that I chose for my lamb is Baaanita. I enjoy working with her every day. She is super fluffy, but she will be shared for fairs and she has a very cute and fluffy face. Bonita is currently 6 months right now, but as fair comes, she will be 9 months. I can’t wait for show day with her. I am glad that I get to get experience with showmanship with her.”

The road to the Jr. Livestock Auction starts now 🐖🐄🐑 Our 4-H and FFA exhibitors are already hard at work raising and preparing their animals for this October!

 

Meet our next livestock exhibitor feature – Khloe Wagner, a Fresno-Central FFA exhibitor from Central High School:

 

Khloe became involved in FFA after her Ag teachers encouraged her to participate in more activities and build friendships through the organization. FFA has had a meaningful impact on her life by helping her become more outgoing, step outside her comfort zone, and connect with new people. Through these experiences, she has gained confidence and developed lasting friendships.

 

Khloe’s lamb project had a challenging start because her lamb was initially very timid and afraid of her. Through patience and consistency, she spent time sitting with her lamb in its pen each day to build trust and strengthen their bond. She has also been working on halter breaking and leading her lamb, and she has enjoyed watching the progress they have made together throughout the project.

Meet one of the dedicated exhibitors working toward this year’s Jr. Livestock Auction 🐖🐄🐑

 

Arellis Estrella is part of the Reedley FFA Chapter and a senior at Reedley High School:

 

“I got involved in FFA because I wanted to gain more knowledge and experience related to my future career. I saw it as an opportunity to learn new skills, explore the agriculture industry, and better prepare myself for the path I hoped to pursue. As I became more involved, FFA grew into much more than just a way to expand my career knowledge. It became one of the most meaningful parts of my life, helping shape the person I am today. Through the organization, I developed strong leadership and communication skills, built lifelong friendships, and gained confidence in myself.

 

Every experience challenged me to grow both personally and professionally, and each opportunity taught me valuable lessons that I will carry with me long after high school. I have truly cherished my time in FFA, and I will always be grateful for the memories, experiences, and opportunities it has given me.

 

This year, I will be showing two sheep: Java Chip and Vanilla Bean. Java Chip is a wether that I will be exhibiting in the market class, while Vanilla Bean is an ewe that I will be showing in the breeding class.”
