Leading up to the sale, we’ll be featuring 4-H & FFA exhibitors from participating chapters to highlight their animal project and all their hard work, while also giving buyers and our community a glimpse of animals they can bid on!

Meet Cassandra Sandoval, a Sanger FFA student who is a senior at Sanger High School:

“My name is Cassandra Sandoval, a senior at Sanger High School and I have been involved in FFA all four years of my high school education. I got involved with FFA because I wanted to surround myself with the agriculture world and get to know people who I shared similar interests with.

This year, I am showing two Boer goats. Hinata, my doe, will only be shown at showmanship and Sid, my wether, will be sold at auction during the Fresno Fair. I have been caring and training both Boer goats since mid-May (feeding, watering, walking, etc.) in preparation for the Big Fresno Fair.”

Help out these hard-working students in the community! Participate in the sale as a buyer or place an add-on bid! Meet Dalton King, a Sierra 4-H student who is in 6th grade at Foothill Elementary:

“Hello, my name is Dalton King.  I go to Foothill Elementary where I am in the 6th grade and I CAN NOT wait to GO back to school when COVID is over – SOON I hope. I miss school a lot, I really miss my friends but most of all I miss my Travel Baseball Team and playing Baseball! Sports is my favorite thing to do and showing my animals is a close second. I also love fishing and camping. I am the Flag Bearer in my 4-H Club – The Sierra 4-H Club. I am in the Beef, Goat and Shooting Sports groups.

Our family LOVES animals and we really like to show them. I have THE PERFECT GOAT for you!! Doofy is the best and he has been SO much Fun to Raise. When everything fun couldn’t happen it was so good that I got to have Doofy. He is a lot like me …… kind of a spaz ….. he runs all over and loves to play chase. I also get to show my breeding heifer Hot Donna at jackpot shows. Her name fits her perfectly because she likes to be a little hot head – she doesn’t get that from me.

I got to show her at the Red Wave Classic the Fresno State Jackpot and then at the Cal Poly Western Bonanza. The best part of Hot Donna was working with my dad and uncle Zeb to decide what kind of bull to breed her to. I got to choose the one I liked so we will see what her calf looks like this spring. So hopefully you can tell that I LOVE Baseball, goats, cows and most of the time my Family.

Doofy joined The King Family in June and we have had a lot of FUN since day one! He was bred by Eric McDaniel from McDaniel Livestock and Doofy and Eric are a lot alike – they both talk a lot. The first few weeks we had Doofy he yelled a lot but then I learned it was because he wanted to hangout more. Each day I work him and he’s a pretty big guy, he weighs 100lbs and I only weigh 75 so sometimes he gets away from me or drags me –we’ve turned it into a game. Most of all I have kept him fed, watered and clean– he loves bath time.

Doofy will be at the Fresno Fair Grading event and then go through the Fresno Fair Virtual Livestock Sale.  The sale this year will be on-line only because of COVID, I miss the Fair.”

“This is Hannah’s 5th year in 4-H and she is a member of Blossom Trail 4-H club.  Hannah is serving her 2nd year on the executive board at Blossom Trail 4-H, this year she was elected to the office of Reporter.  Hannah has been going to dairy goat shows since she was little and began showing goats as soon as she could walk around the ring with one.  She joined 4-H for the dairy goat project and currently serves as a junior leader for the project.  She enjoys teaching others about this animal that she loves.

Hannah and her sister raise a small herd of alpine dairy goats at their home.  Hannah works with these goats every day, twice a day.  Each morning and evening, she milks, feeds, waters and cleans up after her goats.   This year Hannah will be selling a dairy replacement doe in the auction on October 3rd and a dairy market goat in the virtual auction.  Hannah’s replacement doe is a Nubian/Oberhasli Recorded Grade dairy goat named Finnola.  Her dairy market goat is one that Hannah bred and helped to deliver, he is an alpine named Thor. “

I will be showing a doe and a wether at the Fair but will only be selling my wether. Both of my goats have fun personalities and make every day a fun one! I am so happy to be able to still experience showing even if it’s in a totally different way this year!”
