Big Fresno Fair Remembers Fresno Leader, Al Smith

We are deeply heartbroken by the passing of our dear friend, Al Smith. A true leader and champion of the Fresno community, Al was a towering figure in business and broadcasting, leaving a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His unmistakable voice and storytelling brilliance brought history to life on KMJ radio’s “Legends & Legacies” feature and continue to guide visitors through the Fresno County Historical Museum’s exhibits on our audio tours. His impact, leadership and legacy will be felt for generations to come.

Al Smith, 86, passed away on Saturday, February 15, according to multiple online posts. He is remembered as a charismatic leader known for his booming voice and ability to make each person he encountered feel special (The Business Journal).

National Feed the Birds Day – Lorikeet Encounter Highlight!

Today is Feed the Birds Day and what better way to celebrate by highlighting the Lorikeet Encounter at The Big Fresno Fair! Each October, Fairgoers can enter the Greenhouse building to immerse themselves into the brightly colored world of Lorikeets! Stroll through the open aviary as the beautiful parrots fly overhead in this open-air exhibit, where you can also feed them too!

Head to the Fresno Fairgrounds on June 15 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to check out our two award-winning museums, the Fresno County Historical Museum and The Big Fresno Fair Museum! In the Fresno County Historical Museum, learn about the rich history of Fresno County, different cultures and contributions, plus enjoy incredible artifacts and photos!

Admission and parking are free. Parking available in the Chance Ave. parking lot. Audio tours will guide visitors through the Museum, as well as Museum docents.
